Summer fun already in the pool

What a week. This was our last week of CDO.. I am more sad than anyone. More so because I am selfish... I really enjoyed the time with June and running my errands... one child is so much easier than two when you are at Target or HEB. I am also sad because Wyatt has such a good time and the program is so good, but we will look forward to next year with new teachers and new friends. The good news is we are blessed because Wyatt has his best buddy at school who lives literally once street over. Not to mention, June is so active now, that I really have to work at keeping things interesting at the house. They both love to go outside and play, see new things and always up for an adventure. So, I need to get the play date list going.

This has been a long week..My Aunt lost her husband suddenly on Saturday, it really makes you think how precious time is. He was going thru chemo and doing fine.. then all of the sudden it was a scene from ER where he is flat lined on the table and we lost him. My Aunt is strong, but I know heartbroken and in disbelief. Monday and Tuesday my Dad went thru his round of test to see if he is still doing alright with his cancer.. we will know something in two weeks. I know he is still in pain everyday from his radiation, but never complains or shows it. Tuesday was a bad Mom day for me.. one of those I am not proud of. I lost my patience way to early in the morning.. and the day went on and on. I have to say Wyatt is really testing me and the boundaries. There is nothing like playing at a friends house and your child throws an all out fit leaving or tells you in front of people, "I am talking, leave me alone!" Really what do you do? At home he would of gotten a spanking with the spoon (yes, I spank) or serious timeout.. depends on my patience and the point in the day! At someone else's house, I tried the "look" the strict talking to and time out. It gets me nowhere, so I guess I will start carrying the spoon. It seems to be the only things that works, and I hate that. The other part is Emily June picks up on everything Wyatt does!
Wednesday was better, we played outside all day and Jenn, Brock, and Hudson to keep us company.. adult talk finally! We may only get a few sentences in or start a thought and finish it next time we see each other, but it is worth it!
Today was great. This morning we played with Jay, ate with Meema, and had Brock and Hudson over for late afternoon play date and pizza. I am grateful for good friends.

Lately, I have the best intentions to start sewing, so my mom and I went to Hancock's to get an "easy" pattern and fabric. The idea sounds like so much fun, the execution.. not so fun! I cut out the pattern, and started sewing. I thought I was doing great until I realized my Eazy 123 pattern is not so easy. I sewed the arms together. Which means I have to start over. Once I finish my Easy 123 patten I will post it.. but it may be a long while!

I want to keep Laura in my prayers who had surgery this week on her foot, she had an assist that needed to be removed and is in pain. Her Dr told her to keep her foot up.. seriously with 3 kids under 3 that is not going to happen. Also, Wyatt's friend Jay and his sister Anna are having surgery tomorrow as well. And Aunt Nanny... Please keep them in your prayers!

What a cute family... just missing sweet Elizabeth
Brock with a killer smile!

Wyatt is 3! Hard to believe, it seems like yesterday when I was in labor for 23 long hours. I had no idea how rewarding being a mom would be at that time... and it just gets better and better! Today, was the big birthday party and also the one time it decides to rain in Midland. It literally has not rained in months and months.. so we cannot complain about the rain! It did not stop the fun, we had a great time inside and outside. Papa rented a big train bouncy for the kids and it was a slippery, wet, mess.. but a lot of fun! Thank you to all the special friends and family that celebrated with us. Oh, and we are potty trained ( for the most part..so that is the best present for mommy!)

Fabulous, wonderful, fun weekend!

Emily and I enjoying the boat ride...

The happy couple.. I have never in my life scene Chad so happy. We love you Alicia and so excited for the two of you.. soon to be three!! YEAH!

Sitting in the "catch" chair... When you catch a fish, you sit here for hours trying to reel your fish in.. sometimes you battle a 4-500 lb fish for 4-5 hours of straight fighting.

So sweet!

Happy Mother's Day Mom! You are the best.. and obviously enoying yourself here!
The super gracious hosts who take care of everything to make sure we had only the best time!
Sweet cousins having a great time inside.. This is Sara and Baby Chad.

Can I begin with Wow! It has been three years today... (Wyatt's birthday is today!) that I have gotten away for a girls only weekend! Why did I not do this sooner?! It was so relaxing, so rewarding, and so uplifting. I have known my best friend Emily since we were 4, when we were younger we were inseperable. Her family is my family. We would called each other every day before school and matched.. or planned it out the night before... I have always said I hope my Emily June will have an "Emily" in her life. I have only the best memories growing up with the Elias clan and now we get to celebrate having another Elias... alright two! It does not get much better! Alicia will be our newest Elias family member on July 17 and we then will look forward to the arrival of another new Elias when their baby arrives in November.
The weekend was filled with love, laughter, and fun. Every year since we were about 5 or 6 we would take a float trip, canoe trip, or some summer adventure with the Elias family. As kids life was so much fun.. and I forgot just because I have kids now the fun should never stop! Emily and Ryan have a beautiful house across the street from the beach in Port A... the first night it was just 5 of us and we still all slept in the same rooms so we would not be apart! Saturday, Alicia and her family came up and then Chad and Ryan came out to take us on a "boat" ride. Mom kept telling me she was a little worried about eveyone (15 people) fitting on the boat, but Emily forgot to tell me there is no just "boat" about it! Ryan does competitive deep sea fishing so it is a 40 ft boat with an two bedroom house basically underneath.. Which is perfect bc it has two bathrooms, AC, sat TV for the kids, and a kitchen to enjoy a few drinks. (nothing like nasty Deadlest Catch boats of what I would imagine.. when you talk about fishing.) Needless to say, it was a beautiful night, we cruised thru the bay and around the island.. there were so many dolphins and it is magical watching the sun set and moon reflect off the ocean. I feel so fortunate to be around people who love you unconditionally.. I know that is a blessing. It would not matter if we were on a canoe, tube or fishing yacht, it always turns out to be the best weekend of the year.. a weekend of positive fun and a lot of laughter. I am hoping to take the kids back this summer so they can play in the sand and enjoy the beach as much as I do.
Wyatt did turn 3 today.. can you believe that? We are celebrating his birthday next Saturday so that will be a good time with lots of fun and sugar!
Zach had the kids for the first time this weekend.. all weekend! I think it was just as good for him to have the alone time with the kids. I know they had a great weekend, filled with lots of activities and the best part.. when I got home the house was clean and my car was detailed. Happy Mother's DAy to me!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day.. I feel so blessed to be the mom of my babies.

Good weekend getaway.

Zach and I had a nice break this weekend. He had to fill in to coach a soccer team in Dallas and I was able to tag along. (My in laws spoiled my children all weekend and they had a great time! )The funny thing is I asked Zach while we were gone," Why do we never talk anymore?" I witnessed first hand that men really do not communicate the same as women and it was refreshing to know it was not just me! Hobbie (Zach's best friend and also a coach) was with us the whole time and they literally text each other to talk, or my favorite..one liners, "Leaving.".. "Hungry?" "Later." Where as if I treated my girlfriends that way we would not be nearly as close. With girls it is more like, "Are you ready to go?" "What would you like to eat, are you hungry?" or " I will see you later.. what is the plan the rest of the day?" Boys do not wait for each other - one walks way ahead of the other.. if one stops the other keeps going does not bother waiting... and my favorite boys do not sit together... there is always space in between. I found myself caught in the middle of waiting for one and trying to figure out where the other is heading. IF they get lost.. they simply call each other. So, I realize that when I am with my girlfriends we communicate.. boys have their own form of communication.. Then after riding in the car for 5 minutes with my kids (whom I missed very much) Wyatt is in his "why?" phase.. so he literally asks "Why?" to EVERYTHING.. Zach looked over at me and said, "This is why I do not talk when we are gone, bc it is so quiet and I am enjoying the peace!" Very true, but I know we would be miserable and lonely without all the "why's" in life! All in all, it was nice to get away, the soccer tournament got rained out after one game.. . meaning fun shopping trips for me to TJ Maxx and Nordstroms. We ate very well and I will be paying of it this week.. calories really do not count when you are out of town! One thing I look forward too is taking the kids to the soccer fields when they get old enough to handle an entire game, it is so much fun to watch how hard the kids work and play. I am sure it will be here before we know it!

What a day...

As I was talking to Jenn today about my frustrations with the kids and how I feel like my mind is going to mush, she reminded me we have to stay on our toes to outsmart the kids. She did make me feel a little better, but some days I wonder if I will have any brain cells left by the time the kids get out of school. I mentioned earlier that Wyatt was doing better potty training.. I should of known not to say anything. She came home today and peed all over June's room.. meaning I have to wash ALL the sheets and bedding again. I am not a fan of laundry and I was so mad he did it, I could not even discipline him bc I knew I would say something I would regret! So, we are back on with potty training.. one step forward two big steps back.

I have learned a few tricks the last couple of weeks that have helped me.. maybe they will help you too. IT seems every Dr or nurse prescribes the nasty, white antibiotics for everything. Wyatt is usually pretty good with medicines, but this one is a huge battle. So, I got smart.. once I put the the medicine in the syringe, I filled the tip with chocolate syrup. So, he first tasted the chocolate then I squirted the rest of the medicine in. It works.. I am sure terrible on the teeth, but I pick my battles! Another thing is Wyatt's likes everything colored lately. If he will not eat his dinner, I use a drop of food coloring. So, This morning he had green milk in this cereal and blue mash potatoes for dinner. Who knew!

We have dogs... did anyone know that?!

My angel boy.. I just love that smile, it gets me everytime!
I love this picture.. June is dressed up and Wyatt is in his favorite outfit.. Cowboy boots and nothing else. Notice the big boy pants! YEAH!

The new bed...

The new bed in the morning.

Our dog Bleu (very confusing to kids when your dog is black and named Bleu... obviously before kids!)

Did you know we have a dog?! I feel so bad.. we actually have two and yes, sometimes I forget too. Why does that happen? These dogs use to be our life.. when we would go out of town we would hire someone come to the house to stay with them so they were not lonely. Now, poor things are kicked out of the house and in the backyard and lucky to get fed (not really, but I do feel bad they do not get the attention we use to give them) Blue and Tink are great with the kids and I could ask for better dogs around them. (I have never mentioned them on the blog, so I thought they should get some recognition)
Wyatt has finally made the transition.. he is officially in his big boy bed and LOVES it! He got a race car bed (despite the fact I hated the idea.. plastic furniture seems like a waste of money and I am not really a theme person.. but I lost to my mom and Zach and so glad I did) He asks to go to bed.. he will not get out unless you tell him too.. I think this is bc potty training as been such a nightmare, God knew I could not handle the up and down during the night too! Obviously, he entertains himself and this is how I find his bed every morning...filled with cars. I have no idea how he sleeps ..but he loves it.
We had a great weekend.. Zach was gone with the Sockers team both nights and my girlfriends were out of town to crash a play date at their house, but all in all it was good. We had a birthday party on Saturday morning.. Wyatt's friend Jay who lives so close it is great. They play well together and get in trouble together too! On Thursday at school, his teacher said he and Jay did have to go sit in their "cubbies" bc they both pulled down their pants and peed on the playground. Apparently, I forgot to tell Wyatt you can only do that in our backyard.. but I did not even care.. at least he did not go in his pants! Also, Aunt Dixie came in town so the kids always enjoy seeing her. June just sparkles at the hopes on day she will get her jewelry collections!

Potty training is getting easier.. thank goodness!

Wyatt and Dad enjoying the nice evening we had last night
She is ready to ride.. fearless and loves the loud sound it makes

My baby is going to be 3 in less than a month AHH!

Sweet girl....

Keeping up with Brother...

We are making progress potty training and we are well this week! Whew... a great week in a mommy's world. I think Wyatt got embarrased the park last Friday night when he had an accident in his pants (in front of his friends) .. since then we have been pretty darn good about going potty (except nap and at nights) YEAH! I am ready to throw a party to celebrate that. I was wondering what I was going to do bc I am the mean mom and told him he could not have his third birthday until he was potty trained. I was going to feel pretty bad if he turned three and I did not let him have a party. So that is solved.. we are having a party. The question in when?! I am going on a girls weekend the weekend of his birthday and mother's day so it might be a couple weeks late.. but I do not think he will know the difference! I cannot believe he will be 3.. that makes me so sad. For some reason 2 still seems like a baby, but three is full blown toddler.. and I hear 3 is challenging. I feel like June is on her way to turn three too, she does everything he does and does not want to be held back. She amazes me with her determination and lack of fear!

Zach and I had a great weekend with our supper club and spending time at home. The Sockers started up and are off to a good start, so if you are interested in going to any of the soccer games, we have tickets and would be happy to give them to you.. just email me. It is a lot of fun for the kids and parents (if you enjoy soccer!) There are two games this weekend so he will be busy again this weekend. I am very proud of him.. this all started off as his idea to bring in a PDL team and help unite the soccer associations here for the kids and seeing the first game and turn out was reality that it has happened. His true passion is coaching.
