Good weekend getaway.

Zach and I had a nice break this weekend. He had to fill in to coach a soccer team in Dallas and I was able to tag along. (My in laws spoiled my children all weekend and they had a great time! )The funny thing is I asked Zach while we were gone," Why do we never talk anymore?" I witnessed first hand that men really do not communicate the same as women and it was refreshing to know it was not just me! Hobbie (Zach's best friend and also a coach) was with us the whole time and they literally text each other to talk, or my favorite..one liners, "Leaving.".. "Hungry?" "Later." Where as if I treated my girlfriends that way we would not be nearly as close. With girls it is more like, "Are you ready to go?" "What would you like to eat, are you hungry?" or " I will see you later.. what is the plan the rest of the day?" Boys do not wait for each other - one walks way ahead of the other.. if one stops the other keeps going does not bother waiting... and my favorite boys do not sit together... there is always space in between. I found myself caught in the middle of waiting for one and trying to figure out where the other is heading. IF they get lost.. they simply call each other. So, I realize that when I am with my girlfriends we communicate.. boys have their own form of communication.. Then after riding in the car for 5 minutes with my kids (whom I missed very much) Wyatt is in his "why?" phase.. so he literally asks "Why?" to EVERYTHING.. Zach looked over at me and said, "This is why I do not talk when we are gone, bc it is so quiet and I am enjoying the peace!" Very true, but I know we would be miserable and lonely without all the "why's" in life! All in all, it was nice to get away, the soccer tournament got rained out after one game.. . meaning fun shopping trips for me to TJ Maxx and Nordstroms. We ate very well and I will be paying of it this week.. calories really do not count when you are out of town! One thing I look forward too is taking the kids to the soccer fields when they get old enough to handle an entire game, it is so much fun to watch how hard the kids work and play. I am sure it will be here before we know it!
