The unexpected gifts....are the best gifts

Today I went to my mail box and saw a box.. I was not surprise bc I ordered a cookbook a week ago and just thought it finally came. Then I noticed it was from my friend Molly...whom I use to work with at Brighton. Molly is one of the funniest, talented people around. She is "Molly Shannon" off Saturday Night Live. (I think that is her name) She gave everything up to support her husband, who felt he was being called to serve our country, and joined the army at a later age in life. I have so much repect for both Molly and Mike... they are why American is the best place to live (depsite what is going on in the stock market today!) So, she left her family and Texas home to move to Hawaii and has a little boy Mac she is raising full time. You can see her creativity with the cute blocks above. I opened the box and it was a sweet card which said "just a happy for June" those are the best gifts ever. To think someone is thinking you and your child and to do something so thoughtful means a lot. I know I forget to think of others and get consumed in my own world, but the kindness will spread. Thanks Molly...

Girls lunch

I feel so fortunate to have a few close, kidney friends in my life...it seems at different points of my life I have been blessed with a friend(s) who is selfless and encouraging. ( I call them kidney friends bc I think "would I give them my kidney without second thought?!" and the answer is absolutely.) Pam is a kidney friend. Pam is wonderful, the kind of person you want to be and has a heart of gold. She is the most giving person I know and a role model as a mother. "Giving"I mean her time, herself, anything that she can do to help. I love my friend Pam and we finally got together today for a relaxing lunch poolside. Does not sound like Midland huh?! She has designed and built an oasis in the middle of Midland, Texas right in her backyard. It is so peaceful , relaxing , and rewarding knowing how hard Pam and Frank have worked for years and years to be able to sit in their backyard and feel like you are in a resort somewhere. It was a girls lunch today and June enjoyed every minute. She loved the horses, dogs, and especially the new pool. She just kicked and splashed the water. I am looking forward to our next visit, hopefully poolside with a glass of wine watching the sun go down.

The Standoff

Dinner time is become a standoff between a stuburn 2 year old and his parents. Wednesday nights are wonderful because Sheri cooks us a wonderful homemade meal and drops it off. I love the bc I do not have to cook, clean or think about what is for dinner. Wyatt has decided lately he is on a food strike... and will not eat. I cooked dinner Monday night, Tuesday night and tonight he still refuses to eat. He is quite clever and is a charmer about wanting to get up and not eat.. he smiles, gives lots of kisses, wants to say the blessing 42 times, and really does anything he can to not have to eat. So I am tired of it, I am going to do what I always said I would not and make him eat his food. We have had this issue before and whatever I did before did not seem to work, so now I am determined to get my kid to eat healthy food! June eats whatever I put in front of her, tonight she ate carrots, greenbeans, and a banana. So no problem there! Zach's face says it all with our frustration on Wyatt refusing to eat. I know people say "they will eat when they are hungry" but no breakfast, littel lunch and three nights of hardly anything is stressful!

Woops!

Well for anyone who is trading out SUV's I might want to warn you that the front ends of some are longer than the front ends of others! I guess after driving my Tahoe for 5 plus years I knew exactly how to swing in my garage, well I learned yesterday that my new SUV does not follow the same techinique that I had with my Tahoe. I hate to say I hit the garage and dented in my front drivers side bumper. Oh, and knocked the garage door off track...again. I debated on calling my husband bc I knew what he was going to say... I might not be so scared to tell him if I have not already ran into the garage a previous time before...(it was on Harvard though) So, I called the best attorney in town and told her I was glad that we have become such wonderful friends bc I was not sure if I was going to be married after this and might need her! Then, I called my dad and he came down and fixed the garage door.. I could never move away from him.. And I bumped out the dent, thank goodness for plastic bumpers, and got my finger nail polish remover to try and take off the paint that was left on there from the garage. My car is sand, the garage is white...so it was obvious. Yet, the nail polish remover worked...so by the time Zach saw it, it was not as bad as it was. Notice I said "as bad" it still have a huge gash in the bumper. I explained to Zach that no one was hurt, and we were all fine... he was not amused, but did better than I thought. I guess he is use to this with him mom, apparently she has had some of the same minor accidents. So, my car has character.. it is not on the outside that counts anyways right?!

Kermit would be proud

Wyatt found the frog costume in the back of his closet and was so excited. He immediatly wanted to put it on and would not take it off... Last year we had to bribe him to wear his costume , this year I do not see that problem! June was a little confused at first then thought he was hysterical. Wyatt entertained her by jumping around yelling "ribbit" "ribbit". Darby has been so generous to let us borrow Baryn's cute clothes and this is one of Braden's old halloween costumes...so we are thankful to her!

Boot Camp

For those looking for a fun way to get fit again... I have it..Boot camp. (kinda like what they do on biggest loser ..without Julian yelling at you!) Zach and I both have been doing a boot camp class in the mornings from 6-7am and we both feel better overall. It is always more fun and challenging when you have other people there so anyone interested please let me know! It is
M-F or an 8 week course of 3 days a week. Zach and I alternate days and the hardest things is getting out of bed. It is at a private gym with a personal trainer and such a good workout, you workout at your own ability/pace. I am the youngest one, so there are older people at different levels. It is basically like a personal training session with the added challenge to push yourself to compete with others. Email me if you are interested... it is worth your while for sure!

Early Church

SO CUTE!
June is getting so big so quick...
Daddy and the kids... (not sure what Wyatt is doing!)

I have to admit, I have been bad this summer about getting up and going to church. I thought that since I did CBS on Wednesdays, that it might fill in for Sundays. Well, I have missed church and the fellowship there, so last month I committed to going back to the early service. Yes, getting two kids ready to go by 8AM is a task in itself. Have you ever noticed your most tense mornings are Sunday mornings?! I swear Zach and I have had our biggest arguments on the way to church... or I am mad that we are late and he is not ready or helping out with the kids etc.. Great way to start a morning. I am still working on all the tricks to get two kids up, fed, dressed, hair brushed, and in the car by 8AM. (Why go to the early service? I am still a freak about it not being as crowded and less germs in the nursery...yes, I know some things never change. ) So, this morning was no different.. the clothes were laid out the night before, Wyatt drank his breakfast, and brushed his hair in front of watching "Super Why." I actually did it and had time to take pictures of my cute babies. They will hate it when they are older and said "Why did you dress us alike all the time?!"

Other than church, we had a good, relaxing weekend. Friday night we went over to a friends house for a wonderful meal and the kids played until they could not play anymore! Dixie came into town so the kids spent some time with their "aunt dissy." (She just had her 31st birthday this past week so a late happy birthday to her!) Then after church we had the Doss family lunch. Jenn and I headed over to the mall to try on jeans during nap time... I hate trying on jeans... (not as much as I hate the dentist...but almost! ) Who is really 5'9 and a size 4 (other than Jenn)!?! I would love for my short tree trunks (also known as legs) to fit in a size 36 length (the norm apparently)! And the skinny jean...really?! I have been pregnant for the last 3 years on and off so this is all new to me. And after two babies, there is no skinny jean in my future. I have no more excuses to put off buying clothes that fit...but I am so behind I have no idea where to start. This means a girls weekend is in the future! Actually, I would love for someone to turn me into Stacy and Clinton.. they could really help me!
