Cake Balls

After reading Jennifer (Yeager's) cake balls post I have been dreaming about these wonderful little balls! I could not sleep last night and decided to get the recipe and give it a try. They certainly do not look like the one's from Neimans, but they are pretty tasty!!! I did strawberry and chocolate.. I look forward to trying all different kinds. (Thanks Jen-the recipe below is taken from her blog.. I wish I could take credit! )
I guess I should rename the title of my last blog to rainy days = weight gain! Yesterday it was chocolate cakes and cupcakes..today strawberry cake balls! I hope the sun comes out soon and the parks dry up b/c it might get ugly if we continue at this rate!
On a random note.. this morning my dad and I went to a couple of estate sales and one was at my old house were I grew up. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to visit your old house? I was dying to see the inside, I had so many wonderful memories in this house that I was hoping it would look the same. So, I asked to go inside! I was in awe, it was completely re-done and looked unbelievable. It was so good to know someone else has enjoyed the house and made it there own. I was worried bc ususally you are disappointed when someone buys your house and has let it go, or fails to mow the yard, or my favorite... the window treatments in the front of the house are all different colors and several are 1/2 way hanging down! So, next time you wonder about your childhood home, stop by and ask to go in.. it is fun and the new owner enjoyed knowing the history and stories.

Rainy days = Messy days

I am certainly not complaining about the rain.. we are extremely grateful! However, rain means inside activities... and that means more time in "time out" and more messes to clean up! Today we decided to bake cakes and cupcakes for friends and family, out of desperation to do something with Wyatt...he is not an inside child and likes to be busy. Wyatt ate more than he helped, but at least we have an activity other than TV! You can see the finished product... looks good huh?!

June is about as messy as Wyatt with out an activity! She leaves a trail of stars everywhere she goes and gets them EVERYWHERE! We are still working on teeth so she can eat something besides Gerber foods.

Side note on the kitchen... we are over 1/2 done.. The countertops are in and thank goodness. I went 6 days without running water, cook top, dishwasher and it was hard! You take the little things for granted. I was washing dishes in the bathtub and bathroom sink! Next project is to get the backspash installed. My sweet neighbor is going to help my install so I am looking forward to learning how to tile.

Also, good luck to all our friends and family in the Houston/Coast line area.. please be careful with IKE and if you need a place to stay.. we have an extra room!

Septemberfest

We had a great time at Septemberfest. Wyatt absolutely loved the petting zoo area. He keeps reminding me that he held a baby chicken ( "and not to squeeze it" yet he pulled out its feathers?! ), loved the goats, bunny rabbits, hens and baby ducks. I guess he has the animal lover side of me, it makes me want to move to the country and let him have all the animals he wants. Zach said that was fine, but I would have to take care of them. Considering my poor dogs are lucky to get feed these days.. I am going to stay where I am at! The boys (Locker, Brock, Hudson, and Wyatt ) were the entertainment on stage. They had the West Texas Singles Club line dancing ( the singles were average age of 70...) so the boys took over the show with their 2 year old dancing skills. (I hope to get some picture from Laura and Jen to post!) Other than Septemberfest we had a pretty quiet weekend at the house.. college football consumes Zach on Saturdays and NFL fantasy football on Sundays.

I did find a wonderful artist who makes Christian jewelry. She is out of the Austin area and I had her make Zach a necklace that is "manly" and awesome. They are called God Tags and it has a Tag that has "Father" on there and behind it a smaller tags with the kids names and birthdays on there. Great gift for any family member/friend...email if you want any more info. I know Christmas is coming around the corner and I am never ready and always need personal ideas.
