Wishful thinking or Manic Monday?!

I could not decide on a title for today so there are two. "Wishful Thinking" is referring to the last email where I said " I hope it is 24 hours." Wrong. It was not even the stomach bug... but a bacterial infection. Wyatt has really been sick this weekend and poor thing cannot seem to lick the diarrhea (yes, I know moms are the only ones who read my blog, so I am not going to sugar coat the weekend!) I knew it was something serious when he started pooping blood. I got nervous and fortunate my Dr was on call this weekend so we saw him Saturday morning. (I love him more now than I did before!). Wyatt did get a shot and some antibiotics, he said if he was not better by Saturday night he would need to go to the hospital.. the medicine did help a little so he was fine to stay home. Sunday he woke up in a good mood... I was hoping we were over it and I was wrong! Today we are better, but not cured. Thank goodness for grandparents bc when I got the news Sat morning he was contagious, I called mom and she dropped everything to take care of June... THANK YOU!
"Manic Monday" is for the fact that I have to keep two kids inside on a cold day and try to entertain them without the TV. I gave in this weekend and let Wyatt do whatever he wanted bc I felt so sorry for him.... and now we are back to our normal routine of only 1 hr a day.. that went very quick this morning. Wyatt has diaper rash so bad that I cannot put anything on him bc it hurts. So this means I have to watch him super close and somehow I missed the fact he peed on the Christmas tree twice.Do you know how hard it is to clean a Christmas tree?! He will not go to the potty bc wiping hurts too bad. AHH !
June apprears to be fine so far.. but we are not out of the woods yet... Is it bad to want a glass of wine at 10:30?!

The stomach bug again!!!

Wyatt has the stomach bug again.. this time it is much worse and I am hoping it is only 24 hours. I am so tired of changing diapers (he refused to use the tiolet when he is sick) and throw up. We are headed in tomorrow at 8am to see if we can get any meds before the rest of us get it! I am praying June does not get it! AHHH!

My friend Will... and a great playdate

Ty's park
June and William

June has a playmate her own age... finally! This is William, Clara's little brother, and he is precious. They go to CBS together and Leah (their teacher) says they naturally are drawn to each other.. I think it is sweet!

Today we went to Ty's park. Ty is Leah's little boy and everyone kept telling me how much fun Ty's house was. I had no idea. I need to send a picture, it is the best, most kid friendly backyard I have ever scene. Leah lives outside of town she said she got tired of driving into town to find parks etc so she built one in her backyard. (And her backyard is HUGE!) There is an underground trampoline, a huge play set, all kinds of shovels, dump trucks, cars and everything was in sand so we had no accidents! It was one of the first times I have not really "watched" Wyatt, but let him play with the others knowing he is alright. Paige picked up Bush's Chicken so we had a wonderful play date! Thank you so much Leah for Wyatt's new favorite "park!" He now wants to live out in the country "like Ty."

The Midland Martha Stewart

I mentioned in my previous entry only about Jenn.. well I have the most talented friends but do not have the time to go into detail about each one. I do feel the need to mention who I think really is the next Martha (but much cuter!) and that is sweet Amber. Amber is one of friends who just makes you smile. She is about perfect in our eyes... she is so creative and uses her talents to help out anyone and everyone. Well, at our Christmas party with Santa she brought each one of the hostess a beautiful tin filled with homemade cookies. You are probably wondering why I took a picture and mentioning this.. well because I wanted Jenn and Laura to see how pretty they were and let them know they tasted just as good! I ate theirs. So, Amber I apologize they never received them.. but I hope you know they were delicious! Sorry girls!
I feel much better now that I can confessed!

What has happend to me?!

I want to start of with a disclaimer saying I know I am so blessed and fortunate to be a mom and have two beautiful kids. Now with that said...
There are several reasons that I know my life, perspective, and priorities have changed. Things like getting so excited about a new vacuum or cleaning product, when your favorite smell is a newborn baby (yes, spit up and all), and you are obsessed with latest vaccines and medicines that can affect your children. Well, this week I had a wake up call... I am also that person who I said I was not going to be... I am the "frumpy, lounge wearing mother!" Yes, Ryan came up with the term "lounge wear" and it happens to be my favorite look. This weekend we went to kid's birthday party and I was looking around thinking where do all these moms find the time to look this cute and put together? Then today at Wyatt's MDO Christmas party I was looking around thinking the same thing. Have I just let myself completely go? Yet, I love my baggy jeans, long sleeve shirts, and fleece attire! (I am waiting for Stacie and Clinton to show up and rescue me from my fleece addiction.) Zach even said to me the other night after going to a party (which I thought I looked cute) that he would like for me to dress a little more trendy, up to date, and to show off that I have a figure. I was a little taken back, then thought," I would too."The problem is I have no idea where to start. For example, my dear friend Jennifer... she is my inspiration to be a hip mom. She owns her own business, she is a full time mom and one of the best, an unbelievable cook (and cooks for her family every night), her house is spotless and organized, and every time she walks out of the house she looks like an ad out of Nordstroms. Even when he is in "lounge wear" she looks like a million bucks.. I know I am in trouble.. my wardrobe consists of a few things.. Black (every style of Target black T-shirt), Gray, jeans, and fleece! I have to say I have several pairs of jeans and the only ones I love or wear are the one's I bought with Jenn. I put them on and do not feel like a 31 year old mom with two kids.. I feel attractive and modern in them... she said "you are suppose to always feel this way." I know I have talents, however, fashion is just not one of them. I am hoping that in 2009 that I will emerge from my fleece fetish and look like the wife my husband would like, and the mom my kids are not going to be embarrassed of in Jr high. I sure hope my friends save me before I get to matching socks and themed sweaters.

Weekly update...

The salt and pepper shaker Wyatt is referring too..

Well it has been a good, long week. Lets see what happened, Wyatt thinks Jesus is a cowboy, I made the worst mistake by taking two kids and a crazy dog to the vet, June officially hates Santa and I am pretty sure who my future son in law will be.

Starting with Jesus is a cowboy. Wyatt found some old antique salt and pepper shakers in the cabinet the other day and brought one to me and said, "Look I found Jesus!" Wonderful news I thought, then I saw the old cowboy. He carried him around and then decided that Jesus likes cars too and took him for a ride. He put "Jesus" in the front of his car and took off as fast as he could screaming, " Jesus likes to go fast!" So, little did I know Jesus is a cowboy and that would explain why we Texans feel we are closer to God than anyone else!

Wednesday, I had a vet appointment to take our insane, crazy, Foxhound "Tinker" to the vet. I felt bad bc I know it has been at least 3 years since she has been in and thought I should take her in for a check up and update shots. I love my vet and thought what a great time to take Wyatt and show him all the animals they have in the lobby and see the horses etc. I told him about how we were going to see a big snake and alligator... and he was thrilled. I was not thinking very clearly when I decided to take on this task. I load the kids up in my car, throw Tink in the back and she is going crazy.. barking, freaking out and trying to jump over the seat. We finally get there and I think.. hum "how do I get my kids and crazy dog out of the car?" So I put June in her stroller, Wyatt next to me and looped the dog leach around my foot to get the kids out of the car... Tink wrapped her leach around the stroller and it was a mess. We made it inside, and the drama continued. Tinker hates tile floors.... freaks out on them, well the entire office is tile floors... Wyatt loves the alligator and snake but I forgot to mention they had birds... that freaked him out and June was doing anything she could to get out of the stroller so both children are screaming and Tinker is freaking out on the floors and refuses to move. I am not even going to get into trying to get into the room, back in the car and home.. it was a nightmare. Poor Bleu might not make it to the vet for another three years!

Saturday, we had a wonderful morning with the Johnson's and McNeels. Laura's in laws invited us to see Santa and make cookies at the CC and it was so much fun. We lined up to Santa and the minute June saw him she decided she did not want any part of it. Wyatt jumped up with Brock and told him he wanted "cars." Brock is so precious bc he is very detailed with Santa and tells him exactly what he wants... "a flashlight, toolbox with real tools, and a ladder." Locker is just happy see Santa and does his perfect little smile for the best Santa picture... Hudson, Sam and June hopefully next year will get to see Santa without screaming!
The kids have never had so much sugar.. Halloween could not even touch this! I looked over and Wyatt had a spoonful of green icing in his mouth and shoving any and all candy he could get a hold of on top of that. They had every kind of candy you can imagine and Wyatt had a handful of everything. Brock, Hudson, Locker, and even June were doing their fair share of keeping up with Wyatt. They were so wound up Zach made Wyatt run up and down stairs five times before we got in the car. ... Jenn emailed me later and said Hudson threw up when they got home and the gummy bears were still whole! They literally inhaled the candy. After a good long nap Wyatt had another Santa party at his buddy Thomas' house and could care less about Santa but was interested in Thomas' cars...

Today we went and saw Santa again at Hannah's first birthday party..again June wanted no part of the Santa. I guess for a baby there really is something creepy about a big red man in a suit with a fake beard wanting to hold you!

As you can tell, Santa is very popular this year in Midland, Texas!

Alright, now my future son in law... Hudson McNeel. He can make my daughter smile like no one else, she literally lights up when she sees him. It is precious, he takes care of her...steals pacifiers for her and always asks and make sure she is alright. I figure if he is willing to go up against 2 1/2 year old, take their precious pacifiers, toys and anything else June might want... it is love. Her baby knight in shining armor. I love romance, so yes I am living it thru my almost 11 month old daughter! But on a serious note, June McNeel sounds great and she would have the best in laws.

A few first today... Mom took Wyatt to his first Disney movie today.. that lasted 15 minutes then he got scared and said, "Meema , time to go!" he did not leave without his popcorn and coke though. This was the first time he has had popcorn and a coke that I know of too! June did take 1-2 steps on her own this afternoon.. so we are waiting for her to take off any minute now. She also said "Sassy" today (her pacifier) and "bird" to add to her growing vocabulary of "pa pa", "daddy, " Bubba" and "momma" when she is mad!

Oh, and I forgot to mention we had a adult (meaning no kids!) party Thursday night and it felt like a old high school reunion.. loved every minute of it and it is so funny see everyone 12 years later with kids, real jobs, and doing life. What did we all do though? ...talk about our kids! I just hate the fact we only do it once a year... we need to do it more often.

Here comes Santa!

We had a small breakfast with Santa at the house this morning and it was so much fun to see all the different reactions to Santa. We hosted it with Laura and Jennifer and it turned out great. I am always a nervous host so this was a big step for me. Jennifer grandmother passed away this week so she was at the funeral, but still took care of all of the food - she is amazing. Laura did all the creative grab bags and had reindeer antlers for everyone. I did hardly anything, so the key is to have good friends who help and are great cooks!

My favorite picture has to be Brody and Owen above.. it is a classic and I hope Janai uses it as her Christmas card! Tucker is a close second!

Wyatt really got into Santa this year, however, June wanted no part of it... at all.

We are so thankful to have such wonderful friends. I know not every town is like Midland and we do have a great mom support group here.

On a sad note... Please keep Jenn's family in your prayers.. Her granddad was married to Ree Ree(as the kids call her) for 60 years and has lost his wife and son to cancer all in one week. I know he is hurting and pray he gets the strength to get through this.

I want some more snake please....

As most of you know I do not eat meat so dinner was all about Zach and Wyatt tonight.
Zach grilled ribeye streaks out on the grill and Wyatt was so excited.
He sat next to Daddy and said, "Can I have a bite of my snake please?"
He then replyed," I want to get big and strong ."
Zach tried to explain to him that it was steak...not snake.. he said, " No, Daddy that is snake." Then Zach cut off the fat and set it aside and told Wyatt not to eat that.. and he replyed, " That is dog poop we do not eat it."
I could care less if he calls it snake or steak, at least he is eating!

Old firetruck Dixie found for Wyatt to play on

Junebug (not feeling so hot) and Dixie

Doss Family at Dixie's

Wyatt playing on Firetruck

We headed to Austin on Wednesday for our first Thanksgiving at Dixie's new house. We had a good time and the food was wonderful. The kids had a great time getting spoiled with all the attention, and I loved every bit of the help! The minute we arrived Wyatt met the neighbor's grandson and made quick buddies with Gracie (Tonya's daughter and Dixie's BF) so life was good until he did not get enough sleep on Thursday!!! In other words, Wyatt was in his typical 2 yr old self... some moments he was an angel others not so angelic. June got sick the moment we got there, there was something in the air and her allergies got the best of her. She was miserable at night and so we cut the trip short to get her home. She is still sick, but at least we are in our own house and my dr has already called us in some medicine. (Zach tells me we would not be able to move to another city bc I am too attached to the kids doctor, and I think he is right! )

Dixie took Wyatt to see an old firetruck that he had a ball on. He started off with clothes on and he was so covered in grease and dirt we went home in nothing but a diaper...

Brotherly love

June is officially 10 months old and I think it has taken Wyatt 10 months to realize she was not going anywhere! They are really started to play well together and he seems to watch out for her on some occasions!

Junebug is getting too big!

Junebug loving on Papa
She says "Pa" when she sees him.. he is so good with her

I love cake!

Stole my brother hat... Cowgirl June

After Bath time, Daddy wrapping me up.

My baby is growing up way too fast. She is almost 10 months and I feel like she will be 16 before I know it. She is starting to talk....or try. ( Wyatt seems to understand her the rest of us rely on him to let us know what she is saying. )Right now she is standing by herself just trying to get the courage to take the first step, she is into everything and nothing slows her down, and she eats like a champ as long as you do not feed her (she feeds herself.) She is the most determined child I have and just loves to be loved. I have my cuddle bug finally! Wyatt wants nothing to do with me when it comes to cuddling or sitting in my lap, but God knew I loved to cuddle so I think that is why he sent us our June. She is such a blessing and Wyatt gets better everyday with her. He tells everyone that June is "His baby" and do not touch! (He is very demanding these days to say the least.)

To change the subject ...This has been a week of ups and downs. My dear friend who found out her Grandmother has brain cancer and has a few weeks to live at this point. It has happened so fast, you really never know when your time is up here. She was fine on Halloween playing with her grand kids and within a week, her health went down hill. Another friend is my CBS group has found out her husband has stomach cancer and they are awaiting the results and what stage it is in. It is so hard to see her in pain, not knowing is sometimes the hardest part. It seems your mind always wants to play tricks on you to think the worst so please pray for strength for both families. While visiting your family this week over Thanksgiving, enjoy the time together and do not take it for granted.
On a happier note, our miracle baby Sam turned a year this year! Sam was not suppose to be able to happen and he is here and absolutely beautiful. Laura and Holt will soon be expecting their little girl after the first of the year and Locker is such a sweetheart so we are grateful for miracles!

Where is Wyatt?

All week long we have been on the go, then Friday comes around and we are stuck inside with nasty winds and a cold front moving in. It is a nice change of pace..but by 10:00 the kids are climbing the walls and so am I! I guess Wyatt got so bored he decided to make up his own game. The game is "Where is Wyatt" Which he has figured out he can fit in the built in laundry baskets in our bathroom, any cabinet or small niche around the house. He gets in there and yells,
"Where's Wyatt?" This morning he found a new spot. Look closely at the entertain center.

Open House

This past week we had open house at Wyatt's school (Children's Day Out - 2 days a week) . It always amazes me that he cooperates with all the other kids, bc at home is a different story. He has the best teachers and I really love the program. June will start next year, I was selfish and not ready to let her go quite yet!

Happy Veterans Day!

I copied this picture from my friends Molly's blog and when I saw it it just touched me. Her sweet little boy Mac gets so excited to watch the flag go up on base every morning. She and her husband Mike gave up everything to serve our country. They are now stationed in Hawaii and I know it hard to be away from her Texas family. I have so much respect for them I cannot imagine at the age of 30 starting over, but he did and it truly is for our freedom. Thank you Mike and Molly, Dad, Papa, Uncle Danny, Cousin Jared, Brad, Kristen and Goldie, and all the veterans who have served and our serving our country. We appreciate you so much.

Happy Birthday Meema!

Meema and Wyatt
Meema and June bug- I always said June looks just like Mom.

Halloween

Meema and Wyatt at Sea World, our first little vacation! Wyatt had a blast and Mom was up for anything...obviously!

Happy Birthday to an incredible lady whom I am so proud to call Mom. She is truly a selfless person who loves unconditionally...and always has. Mom, you are the best Mee-ma and we love you and ALL that you have done for our family. I hope you have a wonderful birthday and look forward to many more adventures together! You look just as beautiful now as you ever have. Love you!

Seriously...

I am not sure what is going on this week, but I feel like I am being bossed around by a 2 1/2 year old! What is the deal? I have found myself saying, " You will not talk to me like that." And realizing I am saying this to my own kid?! What has happened in our household! Zach and I will be sitting down on the couch and Wyatt will walk by and say, " Mommy, no- you move." Where did my sweet little boy go? and who and I raising?! We have tried time out... does not seem to work, spanking (not CPS style) does not work, and trying to explain it is disrespectful seems to go in one ear out the other. So, I am hoping Mrs Goldie will have a few more ideas for us! I refuse to answer or let a 2 year old talk to us like a drill Sargent. Any ideas!?

Chucky Cheese

Wyatt's own version of skee ball

I love tickets...

Who says I am a baby?!

Fishing with Cal

Skee ball with Clara and Cal

Wednesdays have become a very popular day in the Doss household. The minute I picked Wyatt up from class he runs up to me and says, " Can we got to chucky cheese now?!" He never forgets. We have such a good time and Wyatt enjoys playing with Cal, Clara, and Tye. June and William do not like to be left out either... one day they will take off on us too. Here are some cute pictures from today. Wyatt has not grasped the "game" thing.. he obviously did not know how to play skeeball either! I love the fact he can play for over an hour on maybe 10 tokens?!

Congratulations President Obama

Well we have change. That is what everyone wanted and agreed on. I feel a bit of relief that we can now move forward with a new president and get past all the race running bs. I have to admit I did not vote for Obama, but now that he is President I will respect his position and hope he can change our country for the better. I may be a product of my environment in not supporting him, or maybe I was affected by the media with all the hate emails in my inbox for him, or just support McCain's views more than Obama, but one thing I do agree on is respect for authority. We have an entire generation who has no respect for authority and no leadership. In our sermon a few weeks ago.. Patrick said "Pray for our next President, no matter who your vote is." I have faith that there is a reason that Obama is in office and I look forward to a better future for our country. We sometimes forget that we live in the greatest country and put our own personal agendas first...not what is best for everyone. If we do not show respect for authority, especially our President, what are we teaching our kids...

My first baby doll....

We went to Skeet and Nini's last night and I was picking up the toys and noticed a cute baby doll. I totally forgot last time Dommie was in town she brought June a sweet doll...so I snatched it and brought it home. June loves it. I promised a pictures with a doll and she has a sweet little doll that looks like her! Thank you Dommie for her first baby doll!
